My Background I graduated with a business degree in finance from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. With this degree I swore I would never go into banking. My first real job was with Security Bank here in Milwaukee. So much for well laid plans. I worked in the telemarketing area taking applications for home equity loans. There I worked my way up to head supervisor and on the way learned how to manage employees, systems and polish my people skills. When it was time to take the next step, Security Bank created a position for me in the marketing department in order to keep me. This is where I first developed my database skills managing the one million plus record home equity loan mailing database. As this position grew I managed the whole direct mailing process, from creative work with the ad agency, to proofing, sign offs, printing, mail house and finally tracking of responses. If you ever want to learn direct mail marketing, a savvy bank is an excellent place to do it. Just prior to the M&I buy out I left to work in the sales department of Midwest Express as a sales analyst. They hired me to work in Microsoft Access even though all my past experience was in FoxPro. They felt I was the right person for the job and it turned out to be a great relationship. I learned Access and took the sales department from monthly paper reports (1400 pages!) to laptops with a custom sales reporting interface which included data from 4 different areas of the airline. Monthly data updates were e-mailed to each rep through an automated process. I also taught them how to decile their customer base for improved sales effectiveness. Ask me about this effective tool! Prior to leaving Midwest Express I had worked directly for the executive vice president of sales and marketing, was one of the founding members of the E-Business group, lead the team that redesigned their website in 2000, and worked on projects with most of Midwest's departments. I left Midwest Express to strike out on my own. It was very hard to leave such a great group of people. I had already developed a small group of clients doing side work and they vowed to throw some more business my way to help me get started. It was early 2001 and it was as good a time as any to start my own business. It is closing in on four years since I left the corporate world and I really enjoy what I do. I enjoy meeting new people and new challenges and have continued to grow my skills in various areas with each new project. All of my business so far has been word of mouth so I must be doing a few things right. If you have any questions about my background or would like references, please call. I look forward to talking with you.
Work Experience I have over 10 years experience with database applications, as well as other skills that make me a much more strategic consultant than someone with skills limited to the database arena.
